Study On Cultivating Internationalized Talents In Research Universities In China

Former Chairman Jiang Zemin once said in 2006 that humun are the most active element for productivity, and human resources are the primary resource. As with the advent of the era of knowledge economy and expansion of economic globalization, international competition becomes increasingly intense, covering inclusive areas of politics, economy, technology, culture and education, etc. The core of the competition lies in talents. Whoever wins in attracting talents of international awareness will have the initiative in the acute international competition.Since ancient times, universities have been closely connected to the future and fortune of the nation. Developing advanced higher education has become an essential force to realize national revitalization in the modern society, an era of economic globalization. Standing in the forefront of higher education, the research universities shoulder the historical responsibility of cultivating comprehensive talents of high qualities and of global vision to realize the strategic mission of strengthening China. Since the implementation of national "985 Project", research universities in China have been exploring means to build up first-class universities under current circumstances and to cultivate high-level talents of international awareness. Therefore, the research universities in China have adapted reform and development to the global background, and have shaped internationalization of talents cultivation as the running school concept and primary objective.Years of research and practice prove that internationalization of talents cultivation in research universities in China is not only necessary, but possible. Guided by the principle of integration of internationalization and localization, internationalization of talents cultivation fundamentally denotes cultivation of internationally competitive talents of high and comprehensive qualities, who meet the needs of the future economic and social development of China, by such means of objective orientation, faculty training, creation of academic atmosphere, courses rationalization, joint cultivation, education of international students, summer school, establishment of information exchange platform, etc.To further raise the level of internationalization of talents cultivation, the research universities in China need to continue its bold exploration and practice. To comprehensively promote the quality of higher education, they have to learn from the world-class universities and then, adapt their experiences to actual situation in China; they have to center around training of former faculties, aided by faculty introduction, and to emphasize internationalization of administrative staff and party members; they have to be aware of the importance of English teaching; they have to actively implement the Research Plan for CSC Scholarship Program, and to further explore the scale, model, and room for joint cultivation; they have to exploit the international job opportunity for graduates; holding to the opportunity of "211 Projecf"and "985 Project", they have to adopt the strategy of "Going Global"; they have to push forward the curriculum reform; and they have to internationalize campus.
