Research On The History Of The Missionay School Physical Education's Development Of In Modern China (1840-1949)

Missionay School was used as the tool to do the missionary work and as the place to cultivate the missionaries.The original Missionay School in China can be trace back to the year of 1839,when the Robert Morrison School was set up by Brown who was an American in Macao. Since the beginning of the time,Missionary School had been attached great important on the Physical Education,and leading the fashion for the development of the modern Physical Education.This thesis take Missionary School Physical Education as the major reseach content,and dividing the course of development for the Missionary School Pysical Education into four preriods: The period of rdiment;The period of exposition;The period of ajudgement;The period of decline;.In addition,this thesis makes some researches on sports education\excurriculum sports activitis\sports compition\cultivation of the sports teacher and sport facilities in each period in Missionary Primary School \Missionary Senior School\Missionary Colledge repectively .Meantime the thesis summaries and analyzes the feature of the Missionary School Physical Education in different period.The research indicates that in different period the missionary school physical education reflects defferent feature which can be ascribed as follows:(1)The period of rdiment:The Physical Education Programme in missinary school is not very standardized;(2)The period of explosion:sports curriculum \extracurriculum activites \sports competition all of them have fully development;(3)The period of ajudgement: making some adjudgements ,and continually develop;(4)The period of decline:all the Missinary Schools are"registration", and Missionary School Physical Education lost in the modern history .Missionary school had some advaced educational philosophy ,including:Business and work depend on the heathy body;The cultivation of the sports spirit and habit Physical; Education should popularized among all the students;Add the sports to the healthy education. Meanwhile,it is noticeable that Missionary School Phsical Education has some active effects on the development of the physical education in modern times: Transmit the thoughts of the Modern Physical Education;Advocate the development of sports activities;Enrich the content of school education;Lend to the fashion of women sports;Attribute to the development of sports theory.In addition, Missionary School also has some negative effects on the development of Physical Education in modern times such as:"sheep-keeping"teaching method and"championships".
