Under today's New courses concept, breaking the traditional teaching methods, and giving full play of situational teaching in English teaching has always been English teachers'pursue. In order to make our classroom more vivid and more attractive, as an English teacher we make great effort in innovative course design. The situational teaching which is advocated in the New courses concept, brought a lot of help to us.This paper elaborates that, under the guidance of the New courses concept, how to make full play of both students and teachers'subjectivity, how to take advantage of the situational teaching, to enable the students to learn and speak English easily in the scenarios created by the teachers. The students can experience the west culture in specific context, and get a real interest and motion of English learning. But when theory is brought into practice, it is found that, due to neglecting of the teaching objectives, mere pursuing of situational teaching in form, and teachers'confusion of the teaching evaluation, the teaching quality degrades. So after in-depth study of both the New courses theory and practical application of situational teaching, this paper propose some improving methods on teaching objectives setting, teaching strategies and teaching evaluation requirements. Practice proves that, situational teaching plays a key role in the English courses reform, so we should discuss more, learn more and use more of it. Help the students learn English easily with more scientific and suitable situational teaching, and make English teaching neither longer boring nor illusory.
