Now, teacher's specialization and teacher's professional development have become the trend of teacher education in the world. In our country, the teaching and research group in school takes the responsibility of training teachers and teachers' professional development. Therefore, as the key personnel of the teaching and research group, the professional development of the head of teaching and research group will have profound theoretical and practical significance.Under the instruction of lifelong education concept, on-the-job training is essential to the professional development of the head of teaching and research group. Nowadays, the specialized training for the head of teaching and research group is mainly organized by teacher educational institutions. These institutions have rich educational resources and strong operation ability. However, it has some limits, such as the ambiguous pertinence, poor leaner autonomy, and narrow coverage and so on. The school-based training can cover these limits. Then, how to operate school-based training for the head of teaching and research group effectively is worth making a research.By now, the research on school-based training for the head of teaching and research group is not common. In this paper, school-based training for the head of teaching and research group of H school in shanghai city will be taken as the object of the study. This study analyses the present state of the school-based training, thinks over the result of the inquiry, and proposes improving strategies, to increase the efficiency of the training.The first part of this paper describes the current situation and significance of the study, the research programmer including the aim of the research, the methods of the research, and defines some fundamental conceptions. The second part of this paper gives a literature review. The third part of this paper takes school-based training for the head of teaching and research group of H school in shanghai city as an example, studies the present state of the training, and summarizes the good effects, the problems in the practice and the cause of the problems. After the school-based training, the head of the teaching and research group have got enhance in the planning of teaching improvement, research of class-teaching, the efficiency of teaching. However, there are also some problems, such as the ambiguous pertinence, the structure of the management is not excellent, the study demand is not met. The last part offers some suggestions on how to operate the school-based training for the head of teaching and research group more effectively.
