The professional development predicaments of head teachers in northern Jiangsu rural primary schools refers to the difficult situation in which the professional development process of head teachers in primary schools in northern Jiangsu rural areas is slow or even stagnant due to the restriction and influence of some factors.By using the methods of literature,questionnaire and interview,this paper makes an empirical study on the practical predicaments of the professional development of head teachers in northern Jiangsu rural primary schools.It takes 160 head teachers in seven rural primary schools in X city as questionnaire sample,7 moral education management cadres and 7 head teachers as the interview objects.Based on the data processing and analysis,It was found that the group of head teachers in the sample school had the characteristics of single gender,younger age,less experience and instability.The practical difficulties of their professional development are mainly manifested in the following aspects:insufficient professional cognitive practice,utilitarian professional selection,professional training as a mere formality,single professional evaluation incentives,and harsh professional experience environment.The reasons on head teachers are lack of professional beliefs,weak professional awareness,lack of professional planning;School administrators' vague professional knowledge,lack of professional culture,lack of professional training in schools;Educational administrative departments' insufficient professional development guidance,lack of professional accreditation system,lack of professional guarantee mechanism;The social aspect of the region is mainly the pressure of moral public opinion,the lack of family education,and the regional environmental constraints.In view of the practical predicaments faced by head teachers in northern Jiangsu rural primary schools,and in combination with the analysis of the causes of the predicaments,we put forward the following suggestions to different subjects:Firstly,head teachers should set up professional ideals,pursue professional happiness,enhance learning awareness,improve the self-knowledge and ability structure,formulate development plans,and implement personal development vision;Secondly,school administrators should improve their understanding of the professional work of head teachers,build cultural awareness of the professional development of head teachers,and improve the training mechanism of the professional development of head teachers.Thirdly,education administrative departments need to strengthen professional development guidance,promote professional accreditation system and implement professional guarantee mechanism.Finally,as a major social force,rural parents should show more respect,understanding and support for the professional development of class teachers and less prejudice,misunderstanding and opposition.
