With the further development of new curriculum reform of our country, people gradually realize, to give full play to students' initiative, to motivate the students' learning enthusiasm, and to cultivate students' autonomous learning mode, have become the main tasks of curriculum reform. But the sports teaching in rural junior middle school, Southern Jiangsu still adopts simple "teacher-teaching, students-learning" method, which contradicts to the trend of independent learning. The paper is based on this situation at home and abroad, autonomous learning theory and under the guidance of new curriculum concept.Firstly, the paper adopts literature data method, questionnaire and mathematical statistics and analysis and other methods. It has randomly selected 270 rural middle school students and 50 teachers of Southern Jiangsu, researching on autonomous learning problem. The paper has found that in the traditional teaching mode, students' autonomous learning ability is relatively low.Secondly, the paper adopts the literature study method, expert interview method to study the possibility of autonomous learning in rural junior middle school sports teaching procedure Based on previous studies, the paper tries to construct a set of autonomous learning strategy mode--teaching students, determining independent space target, assessing and reflecting.Finally, by using the method of documentary, questionnaire and mathematical statistics and analysis and experimental research methods, the paper has verified "independent learning strategy" model experiment in rural junior 2 middle students in Southern Jiangsu. Autonomous learning strategy mode can improve the ability of autonomous learning in rural junior middle school, Southern Jiangsu.Through the above research, conclusions can be drawn as follows:1 In the traditional sports teaching mode of physical education learning, students' autonomous learning ability is relatively low. Students are lacking in persistence and toughness, easy to give up trouble. During the learning process, students mainly depend on teachers, lacking own goal, reflection, etc.2 Autonomous learning in sports does not equal to "sheep" teaching. Teachers should guide and monitor the students' sports autonomous learning process.3 The rural junior middle school's Southern Jiangsu PE teachers possess the lagging concept, such as the teaching method, the content of the choice, treat the problem on the target. To a certain extent, it prevents the development of students' autonomous learning ability. Teachers should be brave, reform teaching methods and ideas, and provide students with independent study space and conditions.4 In the rural junior middle school sports teaching, the new teaching mode can develop more students' learning initiative and stimulate the students' desire to students to master, the body movement techniques of quality improvement and lifelong sports consciousness of the form.5 In the rural junior middle school's physical education classes, students have changed their attitudes. Students become more devoted, no longer wandering in the classroom and their learning enthusiasm for sports is rising.6 In Southern Jiangsu rural junior high schools, students have begun to possess autonomous learning ability, and began to study by themselves.
