Teachings of writing and reading are the two pillars of language teaching. However, the teaching of writing has been a problem for language teaching for a long time, which is particularly stands out in rural schools. This article focuses on the studies of composition teaching in rural schools in Southern Jiangsu and exploring the feasible methods. This article analyzes the characteristics of southern rural junior middle school first, which includes the definition of rural areas in Southern Jiangsu, the characteristics of the living environment there and the characteristics of the southern rural junior middle school. Then it analyzes the status of the teaching of writing. It mainly starts with the problems existing in the following four aspects: the instructor--teacher, the main body of writing--students, the writing materials, and the classroom teaching of writing. It tries to dig out the causes of these problems: Teachers'concept is outdated and they lack of initiative. Students are afraid of writing and they have formed bad writing habits. Writing materials mainly depend on the reading materials. And there are no scientific and systematic teaching methods of class writing teaching. The main part tries to solve the problems by putting forward the study proposals from the following four aspects: How the teachers get rid of stiff thinking. How teachers change and innovate the present situation bravely and eliminate the fearful feeling of students when writing How can teachers develop students'good writing habits and recompose the materials in the teaching books. How teachers explore other resources and focus on skills development to create plain writing. The main body also proposed guiding models of writing teaching with local characteristics.
