Delay of gratification is an important dimension of self-control. It reflects the level of individual's self-control to a certain degree, and is closely related to human life and study. We designed two experiments in this study. Experiment 1, fixed 60 normal children as group 1,60 deaf children as group 2, all these children were from grade 4,5 and 6. Gave them delay gratification test, and compared the scores of two groups. Experiment 2, choose 60 deaf children as subjects, gave them pretest, and further divided them into five groups. Two groups conducted the experiment of model demonstration, two groups conducted the experiment of cognitive activation, compared their scores in delay gratification. The study obtains the following results:Firstly, Compared to normal children of same grade, the delay gratification level of deaf children from senior class is higher, but not meet the significant level. The capacity of delay gratification increase with grade between deaf children from primary school, but not meet the significant level. To normal children from senior class, their achievement in delay gratification test is not significant on grade level, mean score of grade 6 is lower than grade 5, mean score of grade 4 is the lowest.Secondly, To deaf children from senior class, the delay gratification capacity is significant correlated to age and increases with age.Thirdly, To delay gratification capacity of deaf children in primary school, the effect of modeling is distinctive, real-time gratification modeling effect is greater than delay gratification model demonstration.Fourthly, The activation of cold cognitive system prolongs the duration of delay gratification in deaf children from senior class. The activation of hot cognitive system has no significant effect on the level of delay gratification in deaf children.
