The new reforms of curricula in elementary education not only make greater demands on in-service teachers, but create severe challenges for those students who are would-be teachers and now in normal universities. The cultivation of students'teaching capability plays an important role in students'better and quick adaptation to their teaching positions as well as in the implementation of the reforms of curricula in elementary education. Therefore, normal universities as the main places for training the would-be teachers have to act well with the reforms in order to foster the students'teaching capability of adapting to the reform.This paper attempts to find solutions to those questions such as what capabilities should students in normal universities be trained; How did students cultivate their teaching capabilities; What is the status quo of the students'teaching capability; What problems do the normal universities face in the processes of training the teaching capability; What should the normal universities reform in order to improve the students'teaching capability of adapting to the new reforms? Hence, some methods like literature review, questionnaire survey, and interviews are adopted to carry out the study.The first chapter is introduction which includes questions to be studied and the significance by sorting out the relevant documents. Then, this part introduces the research approaches and research plans.The second chapter focuses on the theories of training students'teaching capabilities, including the discriminations between important definition, the structure of the students' teaching capabilities, and rules they follow.The third chapter is the current survey and analysis of the students'teaching capabilities, which includes three sections:First, the plan made for the current survey of the students'teaching capabilities, which contains survey aims and approaches, questionnaire survey, and the analysis of the students.Second, analysis of the results of the survey. It analyzes data from four aspects:the present conditions of the training of the students in normal universities, the students'teaching ability, the practical ability and teaching assessment ability. Third, the analyses of the problems and the reasons in the process of fostering the students'capability. The main problems are:1. From the aspect of teaching plan ability, the teaching objectives are not clear and the lesson plans are not so favorable; 2. From the aspect of teaching practice ability, the students lack the ability of guiding the students into the new course; they are not good at choosing the appropriate ways or using the media correctly; they are not so adept at blackboard writings, and they lacks the abilities of managing the whole class, communicating with students and adapting to changes; 3. From the aspect of teaching assessment ability, the students can not compile the test scientifically, or they can not assess the students who are receiving the elementary education comprehensively, or they do not have enough reflections on teaching.This paper studies the reasons of the problems from five aspects such as education ideology and training mode, the curricula of pedagogy and the curricula of education theories, teaching skills mastered by the students, and practice of teaching.The fourth chapter is about the strategies of fostering the teaching capability of the students in normal universities. Based on the problems analyzed previously, this paper puts forward the strategies of fostering the students' capability from the following five aspects: specifying education ideology, optimizing the cultivating mode; updating the curriculum contents; optimizing the curriculum structures; adding more times of the curricula and updating theoretical content; strengthening skill training and enhancing role awareness; and strengthening the practice of teaching, fostering the students'capabilities.The fifth part is the conclusion.
