In the process of the curriculum revolution, language knowledge, language skill, learning strategy, emotional attitude and cultural awareness have become the students'comprehensive language ability of English learning. As the word"emotional attitude"is put forward, situational teaching has been accepted by the English teachers. Situational teaching is an efficient teaching method, which has aroused students'learning interest and activated the English teaching class.This dissertation will carry through academic research of situational teaching theory first to make clear its concept, resource and development. And also considering the characters of senior high school English teaching, I will summarize the principles, characters, functions, types and strategies of senior high school situational English teaching. In the classes of high school English, situational teaching will utilize lifesome situations to inspire students'learning interest and emotional experience, also it will develop students'abilities of autonomous learning, investigation leaning, cooperative learning, etc. but there are still many matters in the practice of senior high school English situational teaching. So I penetrated into these senior high schools, worked over an analysis of situational teaching in high school English class through questionnaire, interview and class observation. From the result of this research we can see that, although the teachers have acquired great achievement of the application of situational teaching, they still have some difficulty in situation design, situational teaching process and method, situational teaching assessment. This dissertation will analyze the reasons, and figure out the countermeasures.Each teaching method should be verified by the practice. The English teachers in high school should confront the difficulties and make redressal. So that we can carry situational teaching into execution in class.
