Geographical conception is an important component of geographical knowledge. It is not only the cornerstone of secondary school geography education, but also the key to understand and master the basic principles and regulations of geography.However, teachers are often easy to take quick success of teaching the concepts driven by the"examination-oriented education"leading to a lot of problems have emerged in the concepts of teaching, which restricts forming the geographical literacy of middle school students.A questionnaire survey is designed to investigate the profile and problems in geographic concepts teaching in this study. It covers the teachers'awareness of variation,the attitude to variation,the use of variation,the design of variation and so on.Here are the conclusions according to the analysis of the survey:Teachers haven't paid enough attention to variation however they use it of high frequency;In the teachers'opinion, the use of variation is simple since there is no useful direction;It is often conscious when the teachers using variation;The teachers'indication is obvious when they use variation;Teachers generally agreed that there is a pattern of variation.A series of games are offered for the problems above in this study. The root cause of these is that the theoretical study and practical experience of variation are not in the same level. So the methods of making variation are offered. What's more, an example is also presented.
