The constant ocurrence and intensification of disasters have caused a big threat to the human being , thus people have attached great importance to the disaster education . It is a very urgent task for high school geography education to explore ways of perfoming disaster education ,establish the education concept of disaster prevention and mitigation and enhance the awareness of them .The content of natural disasters has been established as a separate elective course in"Geography Curriculum Standard"of senior high school in 2003,that is, Module 5—"Natural Disaster and prevention"which is the brand new attempts in high school geography curriculum reform .The thesis ,based on the research of disaster education , has tried to study systemetically the content and functions of disaster education of Module 5"Natural Disaster and Prevention". According to the understanding of the status quo of disaster education at home and abroad and connotation of it , I decided purposes , significace and content of the study . And by applying the method of teaching material case studies ,the thesis has studied the disaster education content , functions and presentation in"Geography 5". The thesis is made up of five parts . The first part depicts the general situation of the study , sorts out the seguence of ideas of cause and development of disaster education at home and abroad ,explain the status quo. Summarizes the goal and specific content of disaster education of senior high school period by disaster education literature, and then makes clear the purpose and significance of the study and fixes the content of the thesis .The second part analyzes the basis of the disaster education of"Geography 5"and specifically analyzes the part of function ,content and presentation by geography curriculum standard ,disaster science theory and dissemination theory respectively .The third part which is the core of the thesis , mainly studies and analyzes the content , function and presentaion of disaster education section by section in"Geography 5", by applying the method of case analysis and illustrates the features and problem existed in the disaster education in"Geography 5",the functions of performing the disaster education by the teaching material and respective functions of disaster education by three kinds of presentation .The fourth part depicts conclusion and suggestions .by above study and analysis the thesis comes to the conclusion and puts forward some suggestions for problems existed in the content ,function and presentation of teaching material .The main conclusions of the thesis are as follows . I. The features and problems existed in disaster education in"Geography 5"The features of the content : i. To choose and abandon contents of the teaching materials on the basis of the"curriculum standard", that is , to choose and abandon the content of disaster science . ii . to make the main line of the coordination of man-land relationship ,taking into account the intersection and properties of geography and disaster science . iii. the content of material is not only of rich flavor of life ,but also of strong flavor of the times .Problems : i. the contents related to fore-warning of disaster are not enough . ii .the contents related to the emergency prevention measures are not enough . iii. the contents about storm surge are needed to plus more .II .The conclusions of disaster education function study in"Geography 5"i. To basically reach the goal of dissemination of disaster knowledgeii. Functions of skills development and attaining"process and method"are established in the activity system .iii."emotions ,attitude and values"are divideded into three levels ,that is ,emotion ,attutude and value .III. conclusions of presentation of disaster education content in"Geography 5"i. The main presentations are characters , picture and activity . ii.The re are differences between functions of disaster education made by character , picture and activity.IV. The suggestions of using and compiling the teaching materialThe suggestions of using teaching material : i. To put the emphasis on mutiple functions of teaching material .ii.To attach great importance to the effective use of picture on the first page of a chapter and other landscape pictures . iii. To establish the concept of activity–teaching concept .Suggestions of compiling teaching material: i.To improve the proper presentation of characters ii. To optimize the content of storm surge iii.To increase the content srongly related to real life ,such as sudden disaster warning signal , defense guide iv.To design the proper tips language to guide the student‵ s inquiry—based learning .
