With the intensive implementation of national compulsory education curriculum reform, curriculum reform in senior high schools was started in 2004. Compared with the previous curriculum reforms in senior high schools since the foundation of the PRC, the current reform is more intensive, and entails more complex and hard work and poses greater challenges to the concept, system, teachers'qualification and resources of the schools. In the current reform, the elective modules are prominently centered on the promotion of the development of students' individuality. Apart from obligatory courses, various elective courses have been provided, which give more room for students to choose their courses. This is a clear reflection of the idea of promoting the development of.students'individuality, as well as a highlight of the current curriculum reform in senior high schools. We have witnessed initial success in the implementation of New Curriculum, but we are also facing numerous problems, which need further study and discussion. Andecial attention should be given to the current implementation of the elective modules for newborn things.Based on the investigation into the current implementation of elective history modules in senior high schools in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui province, the teachers' theoretical understanding on New Curriculum and their understanding on elective history modules, as well as students'understanding on elective history modules, this paper carries out a penetrating analysis on the current implementation of elective modules and the 5 obstacles to the implementation (teaching materials, facilities, college entrance examination, teachers' qualification, conception). As for the problems detected during the investigation, the author, after some reflection on the implementation of the elective history modules in senior high schools, has proposed his suggestions and plans on the development and implementation of the current elective courses from the perspectives of teaching content, curriculum management, teachers' concept, evaluation system, as well as college entrance examination proposals.
