This paper aims to research the development status, influence factors and coping strategies of teachers'career in higher vocational school. The research adopts questionnaire method, and chooses teachers from four national demonstration vocational institutions and 10 non-demonstration common vocational institutions of Changsha, Hunan as samples. The survey data are analyzed using SPSS statistical software in methods such as descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and pearson product-moment correlation. Research results are as follows:1. Career development of teachers in higher vocational schools is 2/3 on exploring mature and professional mature stages, their influencing factors to career development focus on value structure, and they incline to take positive coping strategies deal with the impact in the career development course.2. There are differences among teachers of higher vocational schools in career development due to their variation in gender, age, education background, teaching age, position, title, income (including bonuses) as well as the distinct between demonstration and non-demonstration vocational institutes.3. There are differences among teachers of higher vocational schools in influencing factors to career development due to their variation in gender, age, marital status, education background, teaching age, position, title, income (including bonuses) as well as the distinct between demonstration and non-demonstration vocational institutes.4. There are differences among teachers of higher vocational schools in coping strategies to career development due to their variation in gender, age, marital status, teaching age, title as well as the distinct between demonstration and non-demonstration vocational institutes.5. The career development and career influencing factors of teachers in higher vocational schools are closely interconnected. Teachers on exploring mature and professional mature stages are much easier to be affected by career influencing factors than those on decline stage, especially by personal factors.6. The career development and career coping strategies of teachers in higher vocational schools are closely related to each other. Teachers on exploring mature and professional mature stages are much better in using career coping strategies.This paper presents proposals to help teachers of higher vocational schools in career development from the three viewpoints - teachers in higher vocational schools, higher vocational school, and administration department related to vocational education based on the above findings. The proposals include that teachers in higher vocational schools should actively concern about their own career development as soon as possible, higher vocational school should establish appropriate counseling organizations for teachers'career development, and administration department related to vocational education should value and build relevant counseling mechanism as guidance to teachers'career development.
