The research on teacher education started relativly late in comparison with other educational research issues. As a result, only by 80s 20th century, did one of the most important parts of teacher education-the reseach on inservice teacher training draw scholarly attention. The reason this happened was that the importance of teacher in the educational quality and the students' development had been recognized by many experts. With the rapid social development and the deep understanding of the teaching profession, the educational policy and practices of many country started to display a similar kind of tendency—invest more resouce and pay more attention to the in-service training of their countries. The only way to make our teachers to be professional relys on creating an ongoing and high quality inservice training mechanism. With this idea in mind, many countries including china have made a lot effort to improve the inservice teacher training systems of their countries.This paper firstly introduced the background of the inservice teacher training researching development. The background is consisting of many different aspects, including the changing of the educational theroy, the teaching professional requriment and the higher expection we now have for teachers. The first part of this paper, i summarized some teacher inservice training mechanisms of main countries of europe and several developed asian countries and the united state. Based on management, stimulation, quality control, providers, the modes of traing of each country, this paper made a conclusion and comparison of those significent facts. This part also made a list of some charactristcs and tendencies of those countries. The following part made a histroric review of china's inservice teacher training development and then demostrated the main status of inservice teacher training nowadys. Through the review and demonstration, this paper listed some problems need to be solved and analysied the reasons explaining how this problems come to be. In the last chapter, this paper compared the status of inservice teacher training with that of other countries and tried to make some valuable suggestions by learning other countries' useful experiences.
