The Research And Survey Of Homework Assignment Of Primary Students In Jinan

Homework is an important step in the process of teaching. It is a bond linking teaching to learning. It is an essential means of understanding, consolidating and using what is leant in class, and cultivating the students'feelings, attitudes, and values. It is also an important way of reflecting the teaching activities for teachers. Yet not all homework can play its due role, and homework assigned unsuitably may be the students'burden instead of playing its due role. Only assigning homework scientifically and rationally can we accelerate the overall and harmonious development of students and provide effective feedback for the improvement of teaching. And teachers can assign students homework according to the actual needs of teaching, the learning level and the physical and mental development level of students. However, the fact is that the amount of students'homework is far beyond the bearing capacity of students. In recent years, the voice of an excessive burden comes one after another. In such circumstance, taking the opportunity of investigating the primary schools'homework to explore various factors that results in the over assignment in homework can do more help on further development of Quality Education and the New Curriculum Reform.This paper starts from the status - quo of primary students'homework and provides the analysis of assignment of primary students'homework in Jinan, and further analyzes the existing problems. Measures are taken to improve the assignment of homework so as to well promote the primary education in Jinan.This paper is divided into three papers: The first part is the investigation and study of the assignment of primary students'homework in Jinan .This study uses a method of questionnaire survey and interview research combined. It not only carries out analysis from whole for primary students'homework, but also compares the difference of primary students'homework assignment among different schools. Teacher questionnaire focuses on the amount of homework assignment, the basis and forms of homework assignment, the correction of homework and the reform of homework. And the student questionnaire focuses on the time of finishing homework assigned by teachers, the recognized degree of homework forms, the understanding and attitude towards homework and supplementary homework.The second part discusses the result of the primary students'homework assignment. The author summarizes the achievement of primary students'homework assignment in Jinan, and points out extant problems in homework assignment. The main problems are generalized as follows: Firstly, each teacher acts of his own free will in terms of homework assignment and lacks scientific principles. Secondly, most of the teachers assign homework ignoring the individuality of the students. Thirdly, most of the teachers keep to the conventional way of correcting homework that lack flexibility and creativity. Fourthly, there are problems in teachers'and students'overviews of homework .Fifthly, homework assigned in many ways, which increases academic burden on students. In the same time, based on the comparative analysis of the homework assignments among different primary schools in Jinan, we can learn that the teachers of theses schools differ in terms of the form of homework and the reform of homework assignments. It is apparent that the teachers of the key schools are more creative than that of the two others in terms of the reform of homework assignment. Furthermore, there are differences among the students of different schools in terms of recognized degree of homework forms and supplementary homework.The third part focuses on the suggestions of homework assignment to the primary students in Jinan. The suggestions are provided from the aspects of schools, teachers, students as well as parents with the expectation of benefiting the reform of homework assignment in Jinan.
