As information technology was widely used in various fields, Mankind was to accelerate the pace of entering the information age. In information society, the citizens'information literacy has become an important indicator of national comprehensive national strength. Improving the citizen's information literacy is an important way an to enhance comprehensive national strength of a country. In our country, the information literacy education in higher education is carried by librarian through the course-literature retrieval. But the information literacy education depends on the participation of all the people, and the education continuity means the only course learning can not meet the needs of information literacy education. The information literacy education is not only a long-term process but also a lifelong learning process, so it needs the colllaboration of the whole society and the related institutions.In this paper, based on the literatures review, the concepts of information literacy and information literacy collaborative education are analyzed in detail. After discussing the significance and function of information literacy education, the necessity and primary demands of collaborative information literacy education are discussed detailedly. From two aspects of theory and practice, the current situation of information literacy collaborative education is summarized. The big gap in practices and theoretical researches between demestic and aboard is revealed. So it is very important to know the current situation and main problems in information collaborative education, and to put forward solutions based on the present situation in our country.In this paper, the questionnaire investigation are carried in all kinds of different universities. In the 116 valid questionnaire, some discoveries are revealed:(1) the information literacy education in our university is undertaken mainly by librarian through the course -literature retrieval, which main content is information knowledge and information skills; (2) information literacy collaborative education is mainly theoritical cognition, and all kinds of possible collaborative information literacy education forms were carried very little; (3) the reasons is varied widely, such as lack of necessary system, lack of funds, lack of practical needs, and so on.Based on the main problems and reasons in information literacy collaborative education, according to the elements of education system, the patterns of information literacy collaborative education are presented, which is carried by library and its libarian, and collaborate with professional education, database providers, and consortium in librares, and some management strategies are desinged.
