A Study On Student Management Of ZD College, A Non-governmental Institutions

Non-governmental institutions, as a component of higher educational institutions in China, are playing an increasingly significant role in higher education. Up to June,2009,612 non-governmental institutions have made up 25% of the institutions in the mainland of China. On the other hand, rapid development of non-governmental institutions implies fierce competition among them. Non-governmental institutions, which do not have the state investment and assume sole responsibility for their profits or losses, are severely tried by the market. According to the general laws of market economy, the relationship between supply and demand have been changing, and only the fittest can survive and thrive in the tough competition. Therefore, with the aim of survival, development and coming to the fore, it is of great necessity for non-governmental institutions to resort to every all means to manage the institutions with delicacy, to upgrade the administration level, especially to enhance the level of student management, and to make the graduates meet the demand of the society.Student management is one of the most significant components of the institution administration. With the rapid development of economy in China, culture and notions have been becoming more pluralistic and institution administration in China, including that of non-governmental institutions, no longer shows great adaptability in student management. In the 21st century, non-governmental institutions, as if by prior arrangement, attach great importance to student management, with the aim of making the graduates "qualified products" meet the demand of the workplace and the society. In the increasingly intense competition for students among non-governmental institutions, the level of students inevitably varies, and even worse, declines. Meanwhile, along with the huge transformation of relationship between staff and students---- from the relationship between educators and educatees to relationship between consumers and people rendering a service----the mental attitudes of students and their parents have been changed in that they regard themselves as the consumers.Consequently, the current situation requires educators to promote the level of student management by considering and taking effective measures to handle the emerging problems and changes, by making analysis of advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threats in student management, by importing advanced concepts and methods concerning student management. The present thesis conducts an intensive research into student management in ZD College by means of summarizing the running-school experience of Mr. A, the founder of ZD College, and reviewing inadequacies in the course of keeping school, such as the instability in the administrative setup, and laying stress on regulations whereas making like of human-oriented management. Furthermore, the thesis makes a study into advanced notions and methods concerning student management home and abroad and proposes a parade of reasonable comments and suggestions for enhancing the level of student management in this college. The author does hope the suggestions, such as strengthening party building, intensifying ideological and political education, enhancing tutors'qualities and management level, establishing and perfecting the system of student management, managing students on the basis of the Constitution and laws, and building up an efficient student management system, can be adopted to deal with the existing problems of student management in ZD College. In addition, the present thesis, with the aim of promoting student management in ZD College, explores the plans of "applying objective management to student management in ZD College" and "applying 4PS to the administration of student enrollment, of student employment and the introduction of professional managers in ZD College".
