The design of embedded system based on 32-bit MCU is the trend of embedded system development. Undoubtedly, the design of 32-bit MCU with independent intelligent property will be of great significance. The paper presents the design process of 32-bit MCU based on CK510 CPU core and AMBA on-chip bus with details. The bus interface of the IP module is the key part of the whole IP architecture design, which is discussed deeply in this paper. Meanwhile, the paper also gives the detail descriptions about the main IPs such as Memory Management Controller, Ethernet Access Controller, LCD Controller, IIC Bus Controller, UART Controller in three aspect including architecture design, register hierarchy design, data stream design.Functional verification with high coverage to the SoC system is a bit challenge. Combined to the AMBA bus, Synopsys VMT (Virtual Model Technology) is employed as the verification tool. The paper adopts the AHB plus AHB based IP module and APB plus APB based IP module verification strategy to achieve the goal efficiently. In order to enhance success confidence, a hardware platform based on FPGA is also established to do the factual functional validation. Software driver corresponding to individual IP is also made to complete the verification.A prospect of the problems which will be met during the back-end design of the MCU is also given at the last part of this paper.
