This thesis elaborated the studies on the chemical constituents of two plants, Notopterygium franchetii from Umbelliferae, and Asarum heterotropoides from Aristolochiaceae. By a variety of chromatographies, thirty- nine compounds were isolated, and they were determined mainly by nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum and mass spectrum. The identified compounds involved coumarins, lignans, sesquiterpenoids, steroids and phenylpropanoids.Chapter 1: The study of chemical constituents of Notopterygium franchetii.Twenty-seven compounds were isolated and identified from the underground p art of Notopterygium franchetii. They were bergamottin(1), notoptol(2), notopt erol(3),(+)-pteryxin(4),(-)-cis-khellactone(5), d- laserpitin(6),(3′S,4′S)-3′-ang eloyloxy-4′-hydroxy-3′,4′-dihydroseselin(7), selinidin(8),(+)-8,9-dihydro-8-(2-hy droxypropan-2-yl)-2-oxo-2H- furo[2,3-h]chromen-9-yl-3- methylbut-2-enoate(9), an genomalin(10), isoimperatorin(11), bergapten(12), 6-(2-hydroxy-3-hydroxymeth yl-3-butenyl)-7-hydroxycoumarin(13), ostruthin(14), isoangenomalin(15), noda kenetin(16), 4,5-seco- Guaia-1(10),11-diene-4,5-dioxo(17), alantolactone(18), is oalantolactone(19), 1β,6α-dihydroxy-7-epi-eudesm-3-ene(20), 4β,6β-dihydroxy-1α,5β(H)-guai-9-ene(21),(+)-spathulenol(22), 6β,10β-dihydroxy-4(15)-guaiene(23),(+)-bornyl cis-4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamate(24),(-)-bornyl ferulate(25), p regnenolone(26) and chrysophanol(27). Fifteen compounds(4-10, 13, 15, 17-21, 23) were isolated from Notopterygium franchetii for the first time. Among t hem, thirteen compounds(4-9, 13, 15, 17-20, 23) were isolated from Notoptery gium for the firsttime.Chapter 2: The study of chemical constituents of Asarum heterot ropoides. Twelve compounds were isolated and identified from the underground part of Asarum heterotropoides. They were l-asarinin(28), aristolochic acid Ⅳa(29), a ristololactamⅠ(30), 3′-hydroxyisosafrole(31), kakuol(32), 1-(6-Methoxy-1,3-be nzodioxol-5-yl)propan-1-one(33), 4′- hydroxypropiophenone(34), 6- hydroxymellein(35), naringenin(36), p-hydroxy-benzaldehyde(37),(+)-asarinol D(38), 1,7-d iphenyl-6(E)- hepten-3-one(39). Three compounds(31, 35, 39) were isolated fro m Asarum for the first time.Chapter 3, it reviewed the progress on the chemical constituents and pharmacological actions of the genus Asarum in the past 30 years.
