China and Japan are neighbouring countries from ancient time, twocountries have frequently intercourse on politics, economy and culture,especially on language. Looking back from old time, Chinesepronunciation, character, vocabulary and grammar affected all aspects ofJanpanese language significantly and profoundly.Quantifier both exists in Chinese and Janpanese. In Chinese, we callit “liangci”, and in Japanese“zhushuci”. Both landuage share a commonground on large amount of quantifiers. Most of Japanese quantifiers comefrom ancient Chinese, therefore, Chinese and Japanese quantifiers have ahomologous origin. With the development of both languages, Chineseand Japanese quantifiers also developed some unique characteristics, bothon pramatics and semantics. Because of the similarity and differences,when Japanese learners study Chinese quantifeirs, the positive transferand negative transfer will double affect the study at the same time. Withthe help of previous study, the author analized the connection anddifference between Chinese and Japanese quantifiers by descriptionmethod, comparative analysis method, the method of documentary andgeneralization method. Meanwhile, the author tried to indicate thesimilarities and diversities between Chinese and Japanese quantifiers. Thestudy will focus on the variaty of Chinese and Japanese quantifiers onsemantics, grammar and pragmatics. Besides, in the process of Chinese quantifier acquisition, the learning characteristics of Japanese learner areworth to study, such as the error types, learning method, causes of error,ect. Prone to the error types and reasons, the Chinese quantifier teachingmethods could be put forward from different point of views, which couldhelp Japanese learners acquire Chinese quantifier effectively and prodivesome references on Chinese quantifier teaching.The first chapter of this paper is introduction which covers a briefstatement on research object and purpose as well as the reason forchoosing Chinese and Japanese quantifier comparison as research objectin this paper, and make concept of the comparative linguistic and erroranalysis clearly. The second chapter is the statement of Chinese andJapanese quantifier study and study on quantifier description of teachingChinese as foreign language. The third chapter is comparison betweenChinese and Japanese quantifier on semantics and pragmatics. The forthchapter expounds the positive and negative effects on Japanese learners tolearn Chinese quantifier firstly, then concretely analyzed the error typesand causes of error in the process of Japanese learners acquire of Chinesequantifiers. With the help of the study in chapter four, the last chapter willconcentrate on put forward some suggestions to improve Chinesequantifier teaching. Finally, the author made a summary to expound thedeficiency of research at the same time.Sincerely hope this thesis could improve the Chinese quantifier study and teaching.
