Implicit attitude has always been one of focal points in social cognitive neuroscience. On the implicit attitude towards other races, previous studies mixed it with race category. Based on a two-stage model of the stereotype activation, present research investigate the two separate satges with event-related potentials technique and behavior tasks.Experimentl employ the brief Implicit Association Test (brief-IAT) to examine the Asian’s implicit racial attitudes toward the black (1a) and Caucasians (lb) respectively. It reveals a negative implicit attitudes towards the black, and relatively neutral attitude to the Caucasians. The results confirms a two-stage model of the stereotype activation:namely the activation of social categories and stereotypes activation. They were reflected on the N170and N270,LPP.Based on the experimental1, the experiment2used affective priming paradigm, with a black or an Caucasian face as a prime, and then the participants were asked to determine the valence of the target word. When SO A was150ms, if the target is positive, the response is faster when the prime is an Caucasian face, and vice versa, if the target is negative, the response is faster when the prime is anblack face.As to ERPs, we found the consistency effects on N400and LPP.Main conclusions:(1)Asian hold negative implicit attitude towards the black, and relatively neutral attitude to the Caucasians.(2)The activation of implicit attitude towards other races include two separate stages:firstly, the category of race information, then, the activation of attitudes. And they were reflected on the N170and N270,N400,LPP respectively. |
