In recent years, Chinese character teaching has aroused more and more public attention and concern. With the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and in-depth research, the importance of Chinese character teaching has become increasingly prominent at the moment. Throughout the current situation of Chinese character teaching, it has developed at a high rate of speed. Along with the rapid development, it is also accompanied by some problems. At the present stage of Chinese character teaching, the main problems are embodied in the aspects of compiling textbooks, teachers’ instructions and learners’ learning methods. It is worth thinking that in what ways all those problems can be solved so that Chinese characters teaching in the primary stage can be carried out smoothly and achieves better teaching effect. The introduction part expounds some scholars’research on Chinese character teaching and the development tendency of it. The body part opens up the further discussion from three aspects, the first aspect is making a brief review of the history of Chinese character teaching; the second aspect is analyzing the existing problems in the primary stage of Chinese character teaching; the last aspect is proposing the corresponding solutions contraposing those problems. The conclusion part summarizes the main ideas of the whole thesis.
