During Chinese vocabulary teaching, idioms are the most interesting but also difficult part for international students. In this paper, we intends to analysis A Course in Chinese Colloquial Idioms which was published by Beijing language and Culture University Press comprehensively. We will find out the problems in the idioms teaching and studying, put forward opinions and suggestions. We hope that it will inspire text editors, teachers and learners to promote Chinese idioms teaching.Teaching and learning are based on textbooks which links teachers and students. Excellent textbook is not only the assurance of a steady teaching level, and also the foundation for students to preview and review. Textbooks should be selected from representative texts. When editors write textbooks, they should not only take the logic of the article, representation of stylistic, the sequence of knowledge into account, but also pay attention to Standardization of language and artistry of layout. In that case, they must take responsibility for teachers and students who choose their books. And the texts collection, annotation and exercise design should be excellent.Through the specific questionnaire survey and specific study of four teaching segments which is words choosing of textbooks, text design, comments and exercises, and practices of A Course in Chinese Colloquial Idioms, we will take the ontology theory of textbook as foothold to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the textbook. At last author will present personal opinions and suggestions on textbook edition focus on key points, principles and methods of compiling textbooks.
