From Jingling to Wumen and Songjiang picture faction, if the paintinghistory of Ming Dynasty is a diverse drama and full of ups and downs, which iscreated by professional painters and literati painters, it can be recognized bydescendants that the inlfuential clues of this drama include some changes ofrole.These cities of short distance in the south of Yangtze River, including fromNanjing to Wumen and from Wumen to Sungkiang,become the art centers ofdifferent historic period of Ming Dynasty. These art centers interweave thechanges of interests with the contention of concepts of professional painting andliterati painting. And it represents the great transformation of the late Chineseliterati painting.He Liangjun, the scholar of the middle of Ming Dynasty, and his paintingappreciation are selected to be the objects of this paper.He Liangjun was born inthe Huating of Songjiang and went through three dynasties in his life, such asZhengde,Jiajing and Longqing. As well as he is the famous drama theoretician,art collector and critic in the middle Ming Dynasty. He Liangjun mainlyexperiences the changes of social and cultural atmosphere of Jiangnan in theperiod of Zhengde and Jiajing, especially Nanjing, Suzhou and Huating. Hisfriends and artistic activities cover the most inlfuential scholar and painter groups.Therefore, his thoughts of painting, to the large extent, can reflect the fashiontrend of three regions. Meanwhile, the painting thoughts of He Liangjun are mainly conveyed in some books, such as Si You Zhai Book and Painting Ming XinLu. These books describe the association of the painters in Nanjing and Suzhou indetail and particularly comment on the paintings of Zhe painting factor andWumen painting branch. In the meantime, he puts forward some concepts of“Expert”,"Amateur" and “Verve”. With regard to Zhe pangting factor, he pointsout the artistic achievements and the disadvantages of the later and decadentstage of thoughts. For Wumen painting factor, he highly acclaims the success ofthis, such as Shen Zhou and Wen Zhengming. His painting ideas mainly representthe "Elegant" literati interests of artistic ideological trend of Jiangnan in themiddle Ming Dynasty, rather than the former aesthetic taste of Zhe painting factorand Academy Style and the later art concepts of brush-and-ink of the North ofSongjiang painting branch. In brief, He Liangjun is the spokesperson, advocatorand communicator of the emerging Wumen painting branch in the middle MingDynasty.This thesis mainly focuses on the changes of the aesthetics of the art worldin the middle and late Ming Dynasty through artistic exchange and appreciationexperience of He Liangjun in three regions of Jiangnan. And this paper willprovide a new aspect of observation for the emergence and spread of theideological trend of literati in Ming Dynasty.
