| The Ming Dynasty had various painting theories, many of which involved flower and bird painting. The original intention for this thesis is to sort out the theoretical data for Ming-Dynasty flower and bird painting and collate the fragmented materials to facilitate future research and accurate retrieval. In this paper, literature review was made of texts on the Ming Dynasty flower-and-bird painting theories and a catalog compiled, clearly showing the objects studied. The effort was made for two purposes: first, for emphasizing the importance of those theories in the development of painting, and second, for improving understanding and use of the texts. The author divided the research objects according to content and tagged them.In the paper, brief introductions were made for entries in the catalog.Featuring the conceptual background of the Ming Dynasty, those introductions were intended for a more comprehensive presentation of artistic spirits underlying the contest among different schools of thought in the Ming Dynasty. It can be seen from the perspective of global history research that the Chinese painting theory has developed on the basis of inheritance. However,in fact,it has been continuously affecting by the outside world while getting affected. From this point of view,in-depth and targeted study and textual collation become more important. |
