| "Xing Xun" is a method of Exegetics, which is the most early proposed. Xing Xun means seeking the meaning from analyzing the shape of Chinese characters."Shuowen Jiezi" is an indispensable collection of "Xing Xun", which is regarded as a classic by Posterities. It is organized by sequence of Chinese characters’radicals, and is mainly according to the shape of Xiao Zhuan to explain the original meaning and the creation modes of Chinese characters. In this book,the author researches and analyzes Chinese characters structure by Liu Shu theory, interpreting meanings meanly according to the shape of Chinese characters, explaining the original meanings largely and extended meaning and borrowing meaning as well. Explain ancient Chinese and dialects and make the decrees and regulations clear by the two mathods "Yi Xun" and "Sheng Xun". Therefore, based on Xing Xun theory in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" which written by Xu Shen, this thesis tries to completely, systematically analyze and discuss this theory in deal. This thesis will not only help to understand this book and this theory better, but also will have a positive effect on the application and study of Xing Xun theory.This paper is divided into five parts. The first chapter mainly introduces the related definitions, purpose and significance of this study, research methods and research survey.The second chapter elaborates and analyzes Xing Xun’s layout in "Shuo wen Jie zi". This chapter is divided into four parts:the first part mainly expounds pictographic class; the second section focuses on the situation of Self explanatory; the third section focuses on associative compounds; the fourth section focuses on the phonogram.The third chapter elaborates and analyzes the the function of "xing xun"in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi". This chapter is divided into three parts:the first part mainly expounds the function of how to ascertain the original meaning by using "Xing Xun"; section two mainly discusses the function of how to determine the etymology by using "Xing Xun"; section three mainly discusses the function of how to confirm the pronunciation by using "Xing Xun"The fourth chapter analyses and lists some faults in "Xing Xun" in "Shuowen Jiezi". This chapter is divided into three parts:the first part mainly analyses and lists some errors of unknown ancient literal form; the second section mainly analyzes and enumerates "failures" of unknown structure; the third section mainly analyzes and enumerates the muff by the effects of thoughts. The fourth section analyses and lists faults by influence from other conditions.The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the full text. |
