Project teaching, as a practical teaching method, is intended to develop students’ practical abilities. Compared with the traditional teaching, project teaching has many advantages. This thesis is intended to study how to combine project teaching with other traditional teaching methods in TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a foreign language), so as to improve the language skills of the learners.This thesis is composed of four chapters:The first chapter makes a brief review of the origin, development and current situation of the project teaching and TCFL. Taking the project teaching as the breakthrough, on the basis of Chinese language and learning characteristics, the thesis aims to design language teaching activities with unique Chinese language characteristics and put these teaching designs into practice. The second chapter mainly focuses on the characteristics and theories of project teaching and also compares the pros and cons of some traditional teaching methods in TCFL. In the third chapter, the teaching project as the theme of "Transportation and Travel" is designed based on the theories of project teaching and TCFL. In this project, the general steps, important matters, task design and teaching practice of project teaching are discussed in detail, and ultimately experimental results are derived. In the last chapter, on the basis of analyzing students’ questionnaires, this thesis elaborates achievements of TCFL project on strengthening students’ comprehensive ability in Chinese language use, improving study mode and bridging the gap between classroom study and real life environment. It also ponders on the program’s impact on TCSL teaching and key points TCFL teachers should pay attention to.It has been proved by teaching practice that project teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning Chinese language, promote teaching interactions and make a harmonious atmosphere in the classroom. In project teaching, reasonable task divisions and collaborations between group members are very important. And group members’capacity for data collection needs to be improved under the guidance of teachers. Compared with traditional teaching, project teaching has been welcomed by students in TCFL classroom with the overall satisfactory teaching effect. Projects and tasks selected in TCFL are closely related to real life. However, many students have felt that those projects and tasks are very difficult, especially because they lack the ability to use the appropriate tools to solve problems.The study objects of project teaching in TCFL are mainly adults. Project teaching provides learners with the "Use" environment of the target language, and listening, speaking, reading and writing are no longer independent skills, which contribute to the practice and self-reflection of the adults. This has fully demonstrated the strong feasibility of project teaching in the field of TCFL, which is also a bold education reform attempt. In TCFL Project teaching, which is project-oriented and task-driven, the learners can use the Chinese language in real communicative situations for self-exploration, experience activities, so as to achieve proficiency in Chinese language. Therefore, the design of specific project teaching tasks is the key to project teaching in TCFL. This thesis intuitively displays a specific project teaching case, describes the teaching process and important matters in detail, and explores new ideas and provides inspiration for the further study of project teaching in TCFL. However, different from traditional teaching, project teaching has less teaching contents, but has certain requirements for teaching resources and the learners, so other teaching methods should be integrated. The application of project teaching into TCFL is still in the exploratory stage and needs to be promoted and practiced on a larger scale in order to examine its effectiveness.
