Career choices are essential for all pre-service young people. The employment competition intensified because of today’s popularization of higher education. Based on the research of the vocational students’professional psychological characteristics, new perspectives can be provided for career guidance of vocational colleges.From the perspective of the career maturity, this study discusses the higher vocational college students’career maturity with the relationship between self-concept and achievement motivation.1188students in Nanjing Engineering Vocational College have been selected to finish the corresponding questionnaires:revised Career Maturity Inventory, TSCS and AMS. Conclusions were as follows:(1)Career maturity contains five factors:professional confidence, career goals, dependent relatives, professional references and professional values. Revised Career Maturity Inventory tested in higher vocational college students’sample has good reliability and validity.(2)The research of the vocational college students’career maturity illustrates that, there is no significant difference in the factors of gender, major category and family originations, but it shows a significant difference in the aspects of grade and family month incomes.(3)There is significant correlation between self-concept and career maturity. Career maturity increased from low self-concept score group to high self-concept score group. There was significant difference among different levels of self-concept.(4)There is significant positive correlation between the vocational college students’ career maturity and their achievement motivation, especially the motivation of pursuing success. Career maturity increased from low achievement motivation score group to high achievement motivation score group. There are significant differences in career maturity for vocational students in different levels of achievement motivation.(5)Self-concept and achievement motivation are predictors to career maturity to some extent.
