Within the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, the grammatical component the complement is a difficult point for foreign students to learn and understand. It’s meaningful to study the process of acquiring information on complements.Through the use of existing research on complements, this study determined the examination of the types and lower classifications of complements. On this basis, a comprehensive survey of foreign students’ oral statements was taken from a corpus and then compared and determined by statistics. The statistics show the following:During the process of acquiring information on complements foreign students will often avoid its usage; the usage of various types of complements are insufficient; the acquisition of various types of complements are not fully grasped; there is a curable usage of certain common sentences; and students will avoid the usage of some difficult sentence styles.In addition, this paper uses six cases in effort to correct errors and complement the specific use of the analysis of these six cases, summarizes characteristics of the proper usages made by students, and focuses on the various biases and causes of complement types.Finally, by use of a case basis of misused data, the accurate use of relative frequency and other statistical methods brought forth all kinds of difficulty when ranking the complements.
