A Study On The Characteristics Of Orphan 's Thanksgiving

Gratitude is one of humans important positive approach and it is plays a very important function for people to apply to the society. Orphan as one of the group that accept the help most frequently, their level be endue high anticipate and whether this conform to the actuality or not, are there difference between orphan and normal children is social and welfare Institutions common concern. Traditional gratitude most studies focused on the cognitive process on the level of individual explicit, but as explicit drawbacks highlight, gratitude for individual study of implicit gratitude is particularly necessary. The purpose of this study is from the two aspects of implicit cognition and explicit cognition, orphan the relevance of the two kinds of gratitude and gratitude differences comparing the orphan and the normal.This research adopts the questionnaire method and experimental method, selected the 115 orphans and ordinary school-age children as subjects, conducted the following research:(1) Using different measuring tools: the Implicit Association Test(IAT) and the revised "Adolescent Gratitude Scale"(AGS) to measured the implicit gratitude and the explicit gratitude, and compare the relation of this two kind of gratitude;(2)Measured the two kind of gratitude level of ordinary children and compared with the orphans. The results show that:(1)The overall level of explicit gratitude of orphan is higher, the degree of gratitude from high to low in turn gratitude to others, gratitude to society, grateful to the nature. Orphan explicit appreciation level of different sex there is no significant difference, but on the gratitude table for others, men and women students exist significant differences. Different grade of orphans in the outside show significant differences on the levels of total gratitude.(2)The orphan’s implicit gratitude effect significantly, implicit gratitude does not exist significant differences in gender, but significant difference in grade, students of grade eight significantly below grade seven and grade nine.(3)The implicit gratitude and explicit gratitude appreciate correlation of orphans was not significant, belong to different construction.(4)The orphan and the ordinary children show little significant difference in explicit gratitude measurement. Orphan and the ordinary children show significant difference in implicit gratitude measuring, the implicit appreciation level of orphan was significantly lower than the ordinary children.
