We introduce the characteristics and trends of English negative clauses, comparing the discrepancy between Chinese and English, giving examples to illustrate several cases of English translation and Chinese translation. The forth chapter takes “You don’t think” as an example, discussing the development of subject-verb structures in main clauses becoming discourse markers, predicating the verbs which probably become discourse markers with the subjects.
