The author translates Chapter 4 of Contrastive Analysis, a well-known book of Contrastive Linguistics. Chapter 4, ―Microlinguistic Contrastive Analysis‖, is mainly about the traditional practice of microlinguistic CAs on the three levels of Phonology, Lexis, and Grammar, involving the principles and other related theories. According to the linguistic features of the book, the author attempts to solve the problems related to the words and sentences arising in the translation so as to ensure the accurate understanding of the English text and the precise expression of the Chinese version. When solving the problems in translation, the author found it difficult to deal with the semantic collocation in terms of the words. As for the sentences, the comparison and translation of sentence structures and the expression of the logical relationship implied in the sentences are worthy of discussion, which are therefore mainly illustrated with examples in this report. The author hopes that the methods adopted in this report can be of some help to the future translation of such texts.
