The Supplement And Omission Strategy Of Chinese - English Translation

This thesis is based on my own experience of interpreting for Agricultural Economic Policy and Skeleton. Based on the study and analysis of the videos after the conference, I think the interpreter should add or omit some information during the interpretation in order to do the job better. So I summarize some situations when the interpreter should use the tactics of supplementation and omission. On one hand, since Chinese and English are very different languages in terms of syntax and culture, the interpreter should add some information when they interpret from Chinese to English to make the audience understand better. On the other hand, the interpreter should omit some information of the speaker to avoid misleading the audience. The purpose of the two tactics is to make the interpretation better, guarantee the quality of interpretation so that the audience can better understand the speaker.
