Metaphor is the most common phenomenon in language use and a way of thinking, and use metaphor to express emotion has become a usual behavior of people. Translation is a kind of thinking activity and a cross-cultural exchange of information, it is also to convey a kind of language(SL) information into another language(TL) so that readers can get what the original author wants to express. However, due to the discrepancy between different language and different culture makes it difficult to understand and appreciate foreign language correctly, such as idioms. Therefore, how to treat the code-switching between the source language and the target language in the process of translation has attracted people’s attention. Now, a lot of metaphors have very good treatment in the transformation, but there are also some metaphors are not be converted effectively. This shows, not all the translation process can convey effectively, accurately and accurately the metaphorical content of the source language. So, we must use non-metaphorical expression to express the metaphorical expression of source language, which is the "de-metaphorization" in the process of translation.This paper begins with the summarization of metaphor and de-metaphorization in the domestic and foreign research status and defines the Chinese and English metaphorical idiom. Then, the paper analyzes the sources, characteristics, similarities and differences of Chinese and English metaphor idioms, and compares the Chinese metaphorical idioms with English metaphorical idiom. Next, the paper takes the English commonly used metaphor dictionary, the Chinese idioms dictionary, Chinese-English idioms dictionary and Chinese big dictionary as the corpus, to find the 4592 Chinese animal idioms and 303 English animal idioms, and select the part as an example to analyze the de-metaphorical phenomenon in translation and discusses the classification, reason and purpose of de-metaphorization. For the metaphorical idioms, people obtain to have to use de-metaphorization to convert metaphor, de-metaphorization is the last ditch, and de-metaphorization has become a tendency in the field of translation.
