A Study On The Interpretation Of Cultural Features In Bilingual Dictionaries

Culture-Specific word contains rich semantic culture, which is usually the "stumbling block" in the activities of translation and writing. Bilingual dictionaries should strive to meet the actual needs of the users to check dictionary. Therefore, the study on interpretation of Culture-Specific word in bilingual dictionary has very important theoretical and practical significance for the enrichment of interpretation theory and the improvement of interpretation level.This paper comprehensively analyzed the previous researches on Culture-Specific word and the related concepts, also made a definition and classification of the Culture-Specific word. Culture-Specific word can be divided into three categories, including material Culture-Specific word, institutional Culture-Specific word and spirit Culture-Specific word. Based on them, the interpretation of Culture-Specific word was deeply discussed as well. The interpretation of Culture-Specific word is the emphasis and difficulty of bilingual dictionary compilation. Interpretation should combine the theory of “Domestication” and “Foreignization” with the practice of bilingual dictionary compilation, under the guidance of them, several specific methods of interpretation are summed up. Finally, based on the typical words of the above Culture-Specific word, this paper analyzed how to interpret these words in the “Chinese-Russian Dictionary”, and summarize the rule of interpretation, also pointed out the part that can be used for reference and improved, trying to enrich and perfect the theories and methods of interpretation of Culture-Specific word.
