Based on the information processing theory of Gagne, we, in this paper, explained the cognitive processes of extracting, decoding, encoding, output and storage from text information in reading education of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The first chapter, the preface, pointed out the research purpose and meaning, and briefly introduced the theory of information processing. The second chapter explained the five strategies of reading decoding. The third chapter mainly discussed the individual generated strategies of text information encoding and text meaning of while reading Chinese as a foreign language, put forward four strategies to promote students individual text meaning generation. The fourth chapter focused on corresponding method for information express and the fruits storage at the end of information processing stage. The fifth chapter illustrated how to adopt the information processing theory to reading education of teaching Chinese as a foreign language by several teaching examples.Reading education refers to the classroom teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in this paper, which concentrates on the texts of textbooks and values specific teaching strategies of different teaching situations. Reading education is the emphasis of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which is the difficulty as well. Reading education is comprehensive, and different from the general pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar teaching, because it involves language, culture, author, reader, text, and society backgrounds. As is known to all, the process of second language learning is a combination process of study and acquisition. The essence of learning is that students construct their own knowledge systems through their study and acquisition and through continuous accepting information by the assimilation and comply with. This process needs accomplished by students themselves, and can’t be replaced by anyone else. The reading object is written characters information, and the information processing theory explains the occurrence and operation of a series of steps of information extraction, decoding, encoding, storage, etc. from students’point of view. Adopting the information processing principle of Gagne, from the standpoint which could be beneficial to students’information accept and process effectively, to design the Chinese reading education strategies could offer certain theoretical guiding significance for enriching the teaching theories and improving the quality of reading education of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
