Pierre Bonnard(1867-1947) is the French painter in the end of 19 th Century and early 20 th Century.His own family scenes of daily life as a theme, will own the strong subjective emotions into the picture,in a flat composition and colors of the mysterious inner world yearning, with a strong sense of "symbolism" tendency. As an important member of the Na-bis loyal followers and practitioners also symbolism.His own familiarly scenes of daily life as a theme,will own the strong subjective emotions into the picture,in a flat composition and colors of “symbolism” tendency.Bonnard’s painting reflects the general mood of Europeans in specific historical period, also triggered and started the reform trend of western modernism, shows the new modern art concepts emerged in twentieth Century.The article mainly divides into four parts: the introduction part first discusses the concept of "symbol", and the tendency of combing of the 19 th century western painting "symbolic" trajectory, at the same time make statements on the relationship between the Bonnard and Nabis,it is the precondition of understanding Bonnard’s painting symbolic tendency. The first part is based on the work analysis, respectively from the "subject", "composition", "image", "light" and "color" to interpret, the symbolic expression of painting; The second part, first of all, reading window, mirror,bathtubs and other object in boner, symbolism in painting, secondly discusses the symbolism hidden behind of the painter’s deep feelings, love of nature and yearning,subtle expression of love, and to reflect on the life and recall. The third part discusses the boner, painting in the meaning of "symbolic" dimension. Expression as a kind of spirit, manifests the transcendence, uncertainty, implicit and abstract aesthetic characteristics, such as the aesthetic features in the painting of the additional respectively convey the "stretch" emotion, the artistic conception of "mystery", "hidden" discourse and the object outside the meaning of "spirit" four aspects of the dimension. The fourth part discusses as followers of symbolism and practitioners about Bonnard, the symbolic is one of the important performance characteristics in the painting, reflects his melancholy as a century painter, and his understanding of the unique view for the western modern art at the same time open a window.
