This paper adopts questionnaire survey, structured interview and other social linguistic methods to describe the use of Kazakh in the media industry and summarize the features and social differences of media contact. On this basis, it reveals the problems existing in the development and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.The survey has found that the use vitality of Kazakh in media industry has been growing under the promotion of a series of public projects implemented by the country and the autonomous region. By the end of 2014, Kazakh has been used in broadcast, television, newspapers, periodicals, books, audio-visual products and new media, including four levels of the country, autonomous regions, states and counties. Besides, some Kazakh television, newspapers and books have implemented "go global" strategies.Television and broadcast are the most common media types been used by Kazakh participants, which is followed by new media. The print media account for the lowest proportion. Kazakh account for the highest proportion among several languages. Among various types of Kazakh media, the participants like news and cultural broadcast and TV program. They often read Xinjiang Daily, Ili Daily, Ili Evening News, literature and art, science and technological journals, literature and art books and historical biographies. They prefer to browse unofficial websites than official websites. The main purpose that participants get in contact with Kazakh media is to learn about the domestic and international events, study scientific and cultural knowledge and inheriting the minority culture. Most of the participants never be in contact with Kazakhstan media. The participants who has been in contact with Kazakhstan media is mostly in contact with television, followed by websites and broadcast. They are scarcely in contact with print media. The differences in region, age, education level of the language, types, purpose and evaluation are striking, while sexual differences are small.Kazakh media plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the border areas, strengthening the national unity and promoting economic prosperity. There are a series of problems with some achievements. The high repetition rate of programs, the lack of national characteristics, authenticity and comprehensiveness of the news, excessive advertising and false propaganda are difficult to attract the audience. The poor timeliness affect the propagation effects of Kazakh media. The differences in the culture, level of development and written language restrict the external propagation effect. The poor content of official websites and timeliness have little attraction to the audience. The information unofficial websites diverse is rich but messy. The validity and reliability of the network supervision are poor. The translation talents are scarce and the skill need to be improved. There is a lack of Kazakh journalism talents because there is no university which open journalism major taught in Kazakh. There are loopholes in the implementation of some public cultural projects.As for these problems, The author puts forward the following suggestions:enriching the dissemination contents, keep in close contact with the audience, enhancing the cultivation of translation and Kazakh journalism talents, strengthening the cultural exchanges with surrounding countries, improving the implementation of the public cultural projects to further promote the development of Kazakh media.
