Since it was first published in 1957, the literary bimonthy Harvest has made some qualitatively changes as its entering the period of mainstream, and theOne Person’s Film represents a milestone of the Harvest. The column set-up of Harvest always focuses on the changes of time:whenever in the Shuangbai Period, the Cultural Revolution period or in the Reform and Opening-up, the Harvest launched many columns with time features, such as the Story in 1965, the Writers’ Letters in 1982, the Private Photo Album in 1986, the Cultural Perplexity in Agonized Travel in 1988, the Interviews of life in 1989, the Field Documents in 2004 and so on. the Harvest was founded on the editorial idea of harmonious culture, so we did an unceasing diversified development for our column, we constantly put many elements, such as photo, folklore, history, geography into prose creation. When the time of mass culture and visual culture came, the Harvest was not left behind, we launched the column named One Person’s Film, and it remains alive today.The column is presented with two forms, one is writers’ recalling poses and the other is movie interview record, which involves the discussion about the status quo and the future of movie, but it mainly focuses on the relationship between movie and life. Therefore, each prose and interview shows a strong flavor of ’distinctive personal touch’, while such an inspiration comes from the distinctive personal touch always become the vivid One Person’s Film, which is also a kind of resistance against the losing personality in this time of mass culture. Meanwhile, the column is trying to show the feeling of times, society, and people in filmmakers’ minds. Thus, it makes a qualitative difference of interview records between movie magazine and entertainment newspapers, it is still charismatic with its literary power. From the points of reader feedbacks, the column is both adaptable to readers’ requirements, and beyond their horizon of expectation, and it not only wins a fixed stable target readers, but also creates a kind of new aesthetic standard. From the development of movie and literary at home and broad, there exists a extremely strong relationship between movie and literary, so with the Harvest and movies. Thus it is common for the Harvest to made a transboundary to the movie in the time of mass culture, which marks a breakthrough of fixed forms of novel, drama, verse and prose, and puts the literary concepts above the broad sense of cultural background to make more possible forms for literary developments for its expansion and reconstruction. It is also this innovative and bold spirits and keeping pace with the time that made the Harvest, such a pure-literary periodical still had a circulation of 100,000 in the circulation in its embarrassing period, and honored as famous brand in Shanghai for four consecutive years from 2004 to 2014. The success of the Harvest also provides a good reference for other pure-literary periodicals, but their pursuit for innovation of literary magazines could not go off the literary track, or it will turn out to be the opposite of their wish. Meanwhile, they should not lower their literary style in the pursuit for changes, which could make their stable place and not be replaced by the time.
