China is a country with long history and countless monument sites, especially the burial cultural which developed a school of its own, From 200 AD to 500 AD, East Wu Kingdom, East Jin Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Qi Kingdom, Liang Kingdom, and Chen Kingdom established their capital around Nanjing area successively, As the capital of six dynasties, Nanjing naturally became the concentration area for tombs of these periods, More than 3000 tombs from this time periods in history were discovered all over China since the year of 1951, and about 2200 of these tombs are officially announced to the public, As the capital of these dynasties, increasing number of tombs were discovered in Nanjing, Even family graveyards were discovered in Elephant Hill, Tiger Hill, Lujia Hill, Sijia Hill, Mt, Mufu, and Waterside Pavilion, etc, in Nanjing area, The usual approach is to backfill the fully discovered tombs, But nowadays, more and more cities choose to build tomb museums near or on top of the sites and make them cultural labels of these cities, Guangling Emperor Han tomb museum, Luoyang Ancient Art Museum are examples of such museums, Nanjing is still making efforts in protecting and exhibiting the cultures of the six dynasties, yet still lacking dedicative tomb museums.This article will discuss the possibility and necessity of establishing a "Six Dynasty" tomb museum through several approaches including the distribution of these six dynasties tombs in Nanjing, the basis of building tomb museums, the overall design of tomb museums, the expansion of functions in such museums, With main focus on Shangfang large tombs of the Eastern Wu Kingdom and medium to small sized tombs, This article will analyze the value, current state of protection, and challenges, Discussing the connotation and value of protecting and exhibiting the Shangfang tombs of the Eastern Wu Dynasty and all kinds of medium to small sized tombs, with references of some successful examples such as Zhuran Tomb Museum, Luoyang Ancient Art Museum, etc, Adopting dedicated methods of protection and exhibition based on the unique properties of each tombs, and creating a unique style of the six dynasties to make it Nanjing’s distinct gateway of culture exhibition for the six dynasties,...
