A Study Of Textual Cohesion Mechanism In Shang

It has long been acknowledged that Shangshu is very difficult to understand. But many scholars argue that Shangshu enjoys a very high readability. It indicates that a careful dissection of its difficult language can display the clear and logical texture of Shangshu. And furtherly, the rich cohesive strategies is one of the key factors contributing to the neat texture of Shangshu.The present makes a study from two major perspectives:the cohesive mechanism on the one hand, and their relations with Shangshu’s six styles on the other.The systematical analysis shows that in modern texts of Shangshu there are 6 types of cohesive devices under 2 categories. One is the structural cohesion, including parallelism, information structure and thematic structure. The other is non-structural cohesion, covering substitution, correspondence and logic cohesion. (but the cohesive devices are intertwined when they were used by historiographers,to form a coherent semantic) the cohesive mechanism made the modern texts of Shangshu which is blurred and indistinct became smooth.There are some regularities among the match of cohesive devices and six styles in modern texts of shangshu.parallelism made the texts have a beauty of equilibrium,and it is consistent with the crowning "dian". "mo"、"xun"、"gao" are dialogues,which have a strong dependence on context.Information structure and thematic structure made an effect to dialogues.Even though the relationship between shangshu’s six styles and modern texts of shangshu are relative,there still has an important role to research the generative processes of cohesive mechanism through investigating the relationship between them.The paper investigate the two questions above by 3 chapters:The first chapter:the structural cohesion in modern texts of shangshu;The second chapter:the non-structural cohesion in modern texts of shangshu;The third chapter:the comprehensive application of cohesive mechanism in modern texts of shangshu. each chapter make a thorough description and necessary explanation to the uses of cohesive devices in modern texts of shangshu on the base of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,as well as description plus explanation.The modern texts of shangshu made a shaping effect in the process of formation of ancient cohesive mechanism,It also makes a comprehensive vague to supplement the study of the history of Chinese language.to rich the methods about the detection of forgeries on shangshu as well.to some degree,the content above will be expounded in the conclusion.
