With the revitalization of the Study of Zhuang Zi in mid and late Ming dynasty, all kinds of Zhuang Zi appeared by the adherents to express their patriotic ideology and represent the integration from Confucianism, Buddhism to Taoism in Ming dynasty. One of the most unique one, Yao Di Pao Zhuang, written by Fang Yi-zhi, represents the highest achievement of Zhuang Zi in this period. This paper revels the academic value and achievements of the book Yao Di Pao Zhuang as well as the historical position of Fang Yi-zhi.The first chapter is mainly about Fang Yizhi and his Zhuang Zi. First of all, according to the existing ancient works, the paper introduced the personal life, family and experience of Fang Yi-zhi, revealing the formation process of academic thought and the influence of his Zhuang Zi. In addition, based on the overview of the writing backgrounds of Yao Di Pao Zhuang, the paper states the influence of integration of the Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in Ming dynasty, exhibiting the mindset of the adherents of Ming dynasty.The second chapter explains theoretical characteristics of "Zhuang Zi" in Yao Di Pao Zhuang. Both mixing the classic theories and his innovation, Fang appointed the theory of Zhuang Zi originated from confusion, influenced by the theory of Zhou Yi and comprehended by Buddhism. Especially in his late days, Fang hosted a temple and use his sophistication to interpret the theory of Zhuang Zi. Moreover, Fang also introduced some knowledge of western science and technology to illustrate Zhuang Zi.The third chapter discusses the Yao Di Pao Zhuang’s special features, including writing style, language style and literature form, which had a positive influence on later generations. Fang also reviewed Zhuang Zi from Zhuang Zi’s painting and appreciation of painting.The fourth chapter outlines the value of Yao Di Pao Zhuang and its influence. The book’s value is mainly manifested cultural inheritance for three theories:the integration theory of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, the innovative thought of "Zhuang Zi" by the adherents in Ming dynasty, and its materialist thoughts. Its shortcomings are complicated, which affected the academic status of the book to some extent.In conclusion, in the Ming and Qing dynasty, a time of ideological contradiction and integration of academic, the theory of "Zhuang Zi" was prosperous. Fang Yizhi and his Zhuang Zi works writings, reflected the unique interpretation and workshop. Yao Di Pao Zhuang occupies a significant place in the study of "Zhuang Zi".
