"Jiu" is a function word which is very complicated but commonly used in the modern Chinese. So it is both a focus and a difficulty in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. According to the HSK dynamic composition corpus statistics, the error frequency of "jiu" is far higher than the other words. Its error rate is the highest after "le". But now, the explanations about "jiu" have the different standards and the analysis of meanings is not accurate and detail enough. So it brings much inconvenience to the teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It has influenced the teaching effect of teaching Chinese as a foreign language directly. This paper aims to provide the suitable semantic interpretation of teaching Chinese as a foreign language through combing and inductiving the common meanings of "jiu" and than put forward the corresponding suggestion to its teaching and hope this article can broach the refinement research of modern Chinese function words at the same time.This paper is divided into six chapters around the following aspects:Chapter one mainly introduced the significance and principles of the research, the status of the research, the methods of the research and corpus sources.Chapter two mainly used the method of semantic structure to inductive the common meanings of "jiu" in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. First, we adopted the function words semantic structure analysis method to carry on the analysis of the semantic structure for "jiu". According to the principle "If the semantic structure is the same, then the meaning is the same; If the semantic structure changed, then the meaning changed", we preliminary analysis the modern Chinese "jiu" has eight kinds of meanings, a total of 14 items. Second, pointed out their semantic elements and semantic relationships respectively.Chapter three is cut from the errors made by foreign students sentence using the method semantic background analysis revealed the semantic background of "jiu" and deeply identify and filter the meanings of "jiu", thus to further improve the grammatical meaning of "will". Then we used the synchronic semantic model analyses the semantic relations between meanings of "jiu", and pointed out that the semantic evolution mechanism of "jiu" at the same time.Chapter four mainly discussed the synonyms discrimination about "jiu" in the Chinese as a foreign language. Mainly include discrimination of the "jiu" and "dou" "guan yu" "ye" "zhi" and "jiu shi" "jiu dei" and so on. Among them, the words need to be differentiated are according to the words which foreign students often mix. Through discussing the related problems, we have made the semantic condition of "jiu" clearly again.Chapter five mainly put forward the corresponding suggestion for the teaching Chinese as a foreign language according to the research conclusions above, including the meanings arrangement of "jiu" and its five kinds of teaching method which is connect with each other and complement each other.Chapter six mainly summarized and reviewed the research of this paper, demonstrated the deficiency of the research, pointed out the existing problems in the research process.
