In Modern Chinese, there is an estimating usage of "Yao", which is often used with quantitative complement. But this kind of usage of "Yao" has not been comprehensively studied in academia. At present, "Yao" studied by researchers is mostly used in comparative sentences. There is rare scholar studying the usage of estimating "Yao" with quantitative complement or combining it with Teaching Chinese As a Second Language. So I think that the usage of estimating "Yao" in Teaching Chinese As a Second Language is a blind point. In this paper, on the basis of previous studies and materials collected, sentences in which estimating "Yao" can be used have been summarized. To step further, collocational regulation of estimating "Yao" and quantitative complement has been discussed and design of Teaching Chinese As a Second Language have been made to this common regulation.Research of this paper mainly includes three parts.Firstly, according to the materials collected from CCL of Peking University and BCC of Beijing Language and Culture University, six commonly used formats of the estimating "Yao" have been analyzed and summarized. Then, depending on the circumstances in which estimating "Yao" and quantitative complement co-exist, the six formats mentioned above have been divided into two cases:one is "co-existence is necessary" and the other is "co-existence is not necessary". Both cases have been discussed in detail and the reason of each has been analyzed. Finally, in accordance with the current situation of estimating "Yao" used in Teaching Chinese As a Second Language and on the basis of the research did above, a series of instructional design are made.
