Chinese and Vietnamese originated from the isolating language system. The meaning of each sentence is built up from word order and expletive. There are both similarities and differences between these two languages. As a result, it is unavoidable that a lot of Vietnamese learners have difficulties in learning Chinese, especially in grammatical phenomenon named "Complements".Complements are one of the intergral parts of modern Chinese grammar system, which is also a challenge for both foreign students in general and Vietnamese students in particular. In complement system of modern Chinese, the quantitative complements are important, in which a lot of Vietnamese students usually make mistakes because there are no the quantitative complements in Vietnamese. Nowadays, there are abundant researches on "complements system in Chinese", the exclusive researches on the grammatical factor called "Quantitative Complements", however, particularly the ones on specific effects of quantitative complements on using Chinese by Vietnamese learners are rarely found. Hence, it is vital that "Research on learning the quantitative complement of Vietnamese students and teaching strategies" will be named as the topic of this research paper. Firstly, the paper will show the importance of Quantitative complements in Chinese. Secondly, it will study further about the comparison between quantitative complements in Chinese and corresponding expression forms in Vietnamese. Thirdly, the research also analyzes the common mistakes in using this grammatical factor by Vietnamese learners of Chinese so as to suggest some solutions as well as specific syllabuses in teaching quantitative complements.The research paper concludes 4 main chapters:-Chapter 1:Introduction to current researches on quantitative complements.Chapter 2:Comparison between quantitative complements in Chinese and corresponding expression forms in Vietnamese.In which, it compares between Chinese complements of time-Vietnamese adverbs of time, Chinese complements of frequency-Vietnamese adverbs of frequency in order to estimate how hard it is for Vietnamese to get familiar with this grammatical phenomenon.-Chapter 3:Analyses on main causes and common mistakes made by Vietnamese learners in using quantitative complements. These typical causes can be analyzed under 4 aspects:effects of mother tongue, hardness level of quantitative complements, learning material sources, and teaching methods of teachers.-Chapter 4:Some solutions as well as specific syllabuses in teaching quantitative complements for Vietnamese students.
