This paper explores techniques of adjusting word orders in E-C consecutive interpretation by analyzing the differences in word orders between English and Chinese. A detailed study of the different word orders of attribute, adverbial and appositive between English and Chinese is made and the reasons for different word orders are analyzed.This paper also discusses the problems caused by different word orders. In order to cope with them, this paper puts forward four strategies, namely, adjusting word orders by identifying the subject first, adjusting word orders according to time, logic and significance, and then the paper applies each of the techniques in specific examples, hoping to provide effective guidance in interpreting practices. |
