Combining with the characteristics of teaching Chinese as a second language, this paper is aiming for giving some advice to teaching Chinese as a second language by investigating the acquisition of monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words of foreign students, in order to find out teaching methods and strategies of monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words. The main body of the paper is divided into four parts. The first part studies what is Chinese monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words from two aspects, considering the fact of teaching Chinese as a second language and combining the characteristics of monosyllall and polyseme with it, providing a content and scope that the paper studies. The second part does a research on monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words in both "Chinese textbook" and "Chinese proficiency vocabulary and grade outline Chinese characters",studying their parts of speech and number of meanings completely,and then discusses the parts that need to be improved,as well as providing basis for the content of chapter 4. The third part investigates the acquisition of monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words of international students through the questionnaire survey and summarized the characteristics of monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words when international students study it, in order to providing teachers some advice in teaching during the class.The fourth part is on the basis of the statistical results of the second chapter and the analysis of the third chapter and then offer a proposal to teaching monosyllabic polysemous Chinese words in terms of both teaching methods and strategies.
