No matter from the classical aesthetic angle of China or from the angle of modern aesthetic,Yijing and Chanjing have always been two important concepts of Chinese classical aesthetic category.The former is rooted in Chinese traditional culture,it bases on the theory of Dao,blooming a large number of flowers of art and literature,which are amazing and different from each others.The latter,however,comes from Buddhism but is baptized by Chinese tradition,and finally becomes a fruit both of local culture and exotic feeling.It cannot be denied that Yijing and Chanjing affect each other a lot.They confluence in the time of Weijin,when man become conscious of beauty.Yijing turns Chanjing into an aesthetic concept and Chanjing add Kongling to Yingjing.They are hard to be separated because their difference is quite small.So this paper will try to make the difference out.From the beginning they are different.Yijing chases for the highest aesthetic state of Dao,making itself rich and deep in knowing being,human spirit and universe.Chanjing carries “kong” through its theory,what special is that it cannot get rid of the influence of religion,it contains both meaning of religion and aesthetic.Yingjing asks for meaning and looks for the beyond.It makes our life rich and tries to touch the unite of universe and human being.Chanjing,however,stands the point of Kong,even though it turns outside to inside,looking at its inside,it still denies the meaning,what we call it “Mie”.They are not only two different aesthetic categories,but also two different ways to learn and think the world.Through the researching of the difference between Yijing and Chanjing,we may more clearly recognize that Chinese culture is consist of complex elements and has complicated construction.But basis on those various elements,our culture shines beautiful vitality,and finally goes higher and deeper.
