The intermediate stage of teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language is the bottleneck stage for foreign learners. It is troubled for many teachers and students to improve their level of Chinese so as to enter advanced stage. Therefore, this article focuses on the preparation of a comprehensive issue Intermediate Textbook exercises.Language teaching and learning need textbooks, textbook compilation is a systematic project and the exercises as an important part of it can effect the students’ Chinese level. This paper selects two popular textbooks: Boya Chinese-Intermediate sprint I、II. and Developing Chinese-Intermediate Comprehensive I、II. From the perspective of design and compilation, the paper make a contrast analysis of them, analyze their Strength of exercise quantities and types, density of exercise quantities and types and their compilation. For the exercise content, there are two aspects, language skills and language knowledge in exercise quantities and types. Language knowledge consists of phonetic lexicon grammar, Chinese character and sentences; Language skills consist of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The paper analyzes every parts mentioned above in detail, finds some problems and gives the solution. Then, the author investigate the structure modle, exercise compilation, exercise types and quantities, it points that there are both similarities and differences in different textbooks. The similarities are embodied in the general regularity of exercise compilation, while the differences are embodied in the merits and faults of each textbook. This paper mainly researches the compilation of Intermediate Comprehensive Textbook of Chinese as a Foreign Language.
